In the salons and boudoirs of the Hôtel Carnavalet, decorated with woodwork from old Parisian mansions, TRANSPOSITIONS is an exhibition that brings together 18th-century furniture and contemporary design to highlight the continuing importance of details in the process of abstraction to bridge the differences between periods and styles.
The pieces of furniture, most of which are produced by Ecart International, are made thanks to the innovation, creativity and know-how of today’s craftsmen. These qualities are also showcased in the furniture collection of the Musée Carnavalet, born in the workshops of the carpenters of rue de Cléry or the cabinetmakers of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
