AD Intérieurs, Le Salon Varin — La Monnaie de Paris

AD Intérieurs takes its quarters in the emblematic Monnaie de Paris to showcase craftmanship and exceptional materials in a rich historic location. The Salon Varin is a leather objects Collector’s lounge, inspired by the famous engraver’s world.
The tools of Jean Varin, engraver and General Controller of the French mint are metal, wood, and vegetable leather in the form of an apron. The use of leather is revisited; traditionally used to cover, it structures here, in the shape of waves or laminated to create seats and shelves.
The design engages in a conversation between vocation and materials, between XVIIth century craft traditions and most recent techniques, while still visually being in tune with its time. Even though some details and objects in the spaces may include or be inspired by elements from older periods and styles, the general atmosphere is resolutely contemporary.
